BRAKES FOR BREASTS
Starting in 2017, during the month of October Elysian Auto Service participates in Brakes for Breasts, a fundraiser that donates to The Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund. Here’s how it works: Auto repair shops across the US offer free brake pads and all you have to pay for is the labor to install them. Then 10% of that brake service gets donated straight to the research fund. Elysian Auto Service is the only Minnesota shop to work with the Brakes for Breasts fundraiser in the past 4 years. Whether it be a pat on the back, a thank you, or just a note to say have a good day, kids need positives in their lives. Sue Morsching, who owns Elysian Auto with her husband Carl, saw a display of kindness in the Twin Cities. Morsching saw a heart wall, where individuals had a chance to provide uplifting messages written on a small heart. They were displayed for all to see and she felt this was something which could be done locally. “Let the kids express their feelings,” Morsching said. “The kids are living in a historic moment and the WEM Strong Heart Wall will help express their feelings. I’m hoping it will be something positive in the community.” “Elysian Auto asked if we would be willing t...
Why is my brake pedal spongy? A “spongy” brake pedal can result from a few different things. You could have air in your brake line. Or you may have a leak in the brake line. If you have an air bubble in your brake line this can prevent the fluid from flowing down the brake line causing that spongy sensation. The other culprit, a leak in the brake line, can cause this spongy sensation, or your brake pedal may press all the way down to the floor. These are major symptoms and should not be ignored! In a disc brake vehicle, the process is simple to follow, every time you step on your brakes hydraulic brake fluid is sent down the brake line to an item called a caliper. The caliper then squeezes the brake pads against that shiny round silver disc called a rotor, which stops your vehicle. If you have any interruption in the process you have a major problem, and will lose braking power. If there is air in the line we perform a brake fluid service or brake bleed to get all the old ...
Elysian Auto Service: BG Engine Services Last week we introduced you to BG Products and talked a little bit about who they are. Today I want to introduce you to some of their products/services. BG Products offers multiple engine services. A majority of their products are created to improve performance and clean up deposits. BG Engine Performance Restoration: EPR removes deposits from piston rings and passageways. It helps restore compression, power, and fuel economy. This should be done especially if you accidentally went over your oil change interval. Going over oil change intervals means the oil becomes dirtier and creates more deposits . EPR will help to clean up the deposits left behind from the dirty oil. BG Advanced Formula MOA: This is added with new oil, it keeps piston rings from sticking. It helps to stabilize oil viscosity and reduce wear. It also will help prevent sludge. This should be done at every oil change to maintain protection. MOA will maximize your oi...
